Horror fans have been dying to know what Eli Roth's follow up to CABIN FEVER would be and now we have that answer for you. It won't be THE BOX or THE BAD SEED or THE SCAVENGER HUNT. Instead Roth will direct the horror film HOSTEL starring Jay Hernandez (COACH CARTER). Hernandez will star as one of a group of backpackers travelling abroad who get picked off one by one. Mike Fleiss, the man responsible for unleashing "The Bachelor" on the world, will produce. Screen Gems, the genre division of Sony Pictures, will distribute in the states. Filming on HOSTEL (get it?, HOSTEL...hostile...Bueller?...) will begin later this month. Unfortunately there's no word on the prospects of Roth's other projects and whether they're still happening or not. Roth will, however, continue to produce the big-screen adaptation of BAYWATCH for DreamWorks.

I have to say I was disappointed. There seemed to be a miswired subtext to the film. On the one hand, the story demonstrates the dicotomy that exists between those who search for sexual and homicidal pleasures of the flesh, but on the other, the film digresses from a T&A, voyeur gawking sex romp to a tongue in cheek, gore fest as retribution is exacted on the heavies. The audience gawked at the flesh and gore just as the heroes swooned over foreign sexual targets and villains drooled for their sadistic appetites. Was Roth playing a joke on the audience by demonstrating that they too possessed these same self satisfying qualities? It was unclear.

Eli......will you marry me?!?! Only semi kidding. If you would then I'm not kidding, if...
For real now. You didn't let me down. Great movie man. Love the cameo by Miike. Wasn't a fan of the rampant tits, my boyfriend was of that though. I loved the street kids as well because of this play, also a movie, called Suddenly Last Summer and all these native boys eat this man who has taken advantage of them over the years. So I thought that they would do something like that.
Love the use of mirrors, love that you have a set of steel balls and made this. And the scene with the chainsaw was reminded me of Zombie's eyeball/needle and the jacket worn by another man for a minute made me think it was going to be a Don't Look Now situation or Alice Sweet Alice which was inspired by that. Thanks for putting out stuff I enjoy. And if you ever want to have a fan work with you on a film....hey...me!!!! People are already talking.....

I loved the movie. . .now by this i don't mean it was scary, because my friends and i laughed hitarically during the entire thing. . .there were a few scenes that almost made me throw up (whenever anyone else threw up cause i can handle all blood guts and gore, but if someone's throwing up i am right along with them.) it was good though. There was alot of gore and some scenes that made you jump. . .the plot wasnt as strong as it could've been. . .but thats ok. . .through every gore scene though i couldnt help but think there was some underlying humor to it. . .like it was supposed to make you laugh. . .i dont know. I liked it though....and can't wait to own it. and so what if there's tons of boobs. . .that just makes it interesting, lol. ooh, and the scene where the guy is killed in the bathroom. . .well, you all know what we were doing after the movie while in the bathrooms. One thing though that we were a bit upset about was that not all of the main characters died. . .now, after the way Jeff died in Cabin Fever we were expecting some random thing that would kill the last surviving character. . .but when that didnt happen. . .we were a little upset. . .but i did notice that there was something about a HOSTEL 2 in progress so, yeah. . .that might fix our problem.
